Moss Motors

I replaced the cracked head on my 80 with a head from an earlier engine, but it has no water connection.
Has anyone converted to a manual? Welcoming advice for best solution.

When I got my '79 it had been converted to a manual choke. After some searching, I finally found the type of conversion kit that had been used: Joe Curto NBM. I've attached an image below.

The choke worked fine. It was simple and straight forward, and it looked like it would be easy to install. I've since converted to a different carburetor, so I don't have an image of it installed, but it did look more or less proper in place.

I did the same conversion on my ‘77B using the kit from Joe. Not being comfortable doing work on carbs, I was a bit hesitant. It was, however, extremely straight forward. The choke works great.

I just bought the Joe Curto kit and read the instructions. I found the "diagram" and associated written instructions to be difficult to interpret Has anyone taken photos of the installation or made a video of the process?

GARY: That kit used to be a MOSS sold product until they started selling their newer style. I have installed a bunch of them over the years. What seems to be the question. I will keep watching this post.

Thank You Joseph, I've re-read the instructions and taken a closer look at the diagrams so I will try to go step by step until I run into a problem. I will contact you again if I run into a problem.

GARY: GOOD. If I remember right, the little center shaft is replaced with a new one from the kit. The Piston and enrichment lever, the new fast idle cam, and the spring can all be assembled, outside of the choke body, which makes it a little easier. It is definitely a good idea to " FLAT SAND" the back of the choke body. You will find it is warped. Use some 400-600 wet-dry sandpaper, and a few drops of water. If you 'PAINT" the back of it with a SHARPIE PEN, (I use lay-out ink), you will see where it is high and low. PM Me if you need help.
